Xena Star Opinion
This is a page at the swedish Lucy In The
Sky homepage. LITS is the unofficial society for Lucy Lawless fans and we print
a fanzine and support the swedish Xena scene, and Lucy, as best we can.
This particular page feels international in nature and although
the rest of the site is in swedish(well, most of it), I felt that these quotes
should be untouched by translation. They should be enjoyed by all. These quotes
are all collected by myself and my team and the point is not to hype Xena, the
point is to know what celebreties think. So positive or negative, here it is.
We hope to add new quotes every now and then. MIKE
ERIKSSON/LITS

I´m proud to open up the proceedings with a quote from a
man that rarely talk at all to anyone, ex-Deep Purple and Rainbow guitarist
Ritchie Blackmore. Yes, the man that wrote "Smoke
On The Water"! Today he plays romantic renaissance music in his band Blackmore´s
Night in which his girlfriend Candice Night sings. She had her take on Xena
too!
- It is nice to see another country make Hollywood
nervous. (RB)
- Ah, Xena!!! Beautiful, strong, clever, the
ultimate dominatrix, what´s not to love? CN (Both quotes came in together
by e-mail 15/4 2001)

This quote is by well known author Alan
Dean Foster("Alien") and this is what he had to say.
- My wife is a huge fan of Xena. She wants to
be Xena, so she can throw out the next guy who hits on her in a bar. While I
like Lucy Lawless, I´m afraid I never could get past the mangling of traditional
mythology...Norse included...to really enjoy the show. (6/5 2001)

The next quote comes from a legendary singer, who worked with
Ritchie Blackmore in Rainbow in the late seventies and later joined Black Sabbath
before forming his own band DIO in 1983, Ronnie James
Dio. We met him before a concert in Stockholm and managed to slip in
the question in our chat with him then.
- I find those a bit silly. I think fantasy for
me resides more in the mind, it´s a method of using your imagination.
I think that programmes like Xena and Hercules just feed the masses, and unfortunately
the very young masses. They do what kids would love to do, swordfights in the
yard. I think I´m a little more mature than that. I appreciate their success
but it´s not something that I would sit around and watch. (30/4 2001)

Swedish guitar hero Yngwie J.Malmsteen
gave us his take on Xena the very next day, a few hours before a show of his
in Stockholm.
- I know you like it, and that you print a magazine!
I´ve never seen an episode from beginning to end. I mean, I have seen
them, you know. Not really a follower of that, no. (1/5 2001)
